The Flip Chair was crafted for a client with the desire to be able to sit in the kneeling position while seated in more everyday situations. Its ability to flip from tall and short orientations allows for comfortable seating at desks and countertops.
The form of the flip chair was inspired by the interweaving of a single strand into multiple loops. The frame is CNC carved from solid sycamore wood and interwoven together with custom joinery. The upholstery is sewn from Maharam textiles.
The finished piece is lightweight for its size and is easy to flip from one side to the other thanks to its generous rounded corners. Additional custom plastic glides are placed on each leg to reduce any marring of the finished wood surface.
